Third Meeting of CIAT Ethics Committee comes to Successful Conclusion

The Third Meeting of the CIAT Ethics Committee was held in Panama City on May 24-26, sponsored by the Canada Revenue Agency, with the participation of representatives from Brazil, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Spain, Guatemala, New Zealand, Netherlands, Kenya, Spain and Sweden.

 

The CIAT Executive Secretary, Mr. Márcio Verdi, inaugurated the meeting and the working sessions were chaired by Mrs. Lachance from the Revenue Canada Agency and Mrs. Ayala, CIAT Director of Studies and Training.

Improvement of the tools designed for promoting ethics in the tax administration by means of the ideas and suggestions contributed by the participants was the main objective of the meeting. The working groups concluded that the experience turned out to be very interesting and that the dynamics of exchange of good practices has enriched the tools and documents prepared by CIAT.

The Director of the Internal Revenue Service of Ecuador, Economist Carlos Marx Carrasco, attended the Committee’s closing session and invited all the participants to the 45th CIAT General Assembly to be held in Quito, in April of next year, and whose main theme will be “Tax morale as determining factor in improving the effectiveness of the tax administration.
