Arusha, Tanzania, October 8, 2026. The Inter-American Center of Tax Administrations (CIAT) took part in the signing of a new Memorandum of Understanding by the Network of Tax Organizations (NTO). CIAT Executive Secretary Márcio F. Verdi represented CIAT at the 46th Annual Meeting of Heads and Technical Conference of the Commonwealth Association of Tax Administrators (CATA).

The NTO unites 10 regional and international tax organizations that represent over 180 tax administrations worldwide. This cooperation strengthens institutional capacities through peer learning, the exchange of best practices, and the joint development of knowledge on tax administration.

The new Memorandum renews this collaborative effort and marks a phase of institutional strengthening for the network. In 2026, the Secretariat will introduce a two-year term rotation system among member organizations.

The signing ceremony brought together representatives of member organizations and tax authorities present in Arusha. CIAT’s participation reaffirms its commitment to international cooperation aimed at strengthening the capacities of tax administrations.
