The 2nd CIAT Tax Administrators’ Meeting in Madrid Has Concluded

Madrid, Spain, September 24, 2026. The 2.° Meeting of Tax Administrators of the Inter-American Center of Tax Administrations (CIAT), held from September 22 to 24 in Madrid, Spain, has concluded successfully. The event brought together authorities and representatives of the participating tax administrations, who shared experiences, initiatives and good practices, fostering a space for exchange, cooperation and learning.

The program was developed around five main thematic blocks: Human Resources, Technology, Risk Management, Institutional Management and the Tax System, in which current experiences and challenges for the strengthening of tax administrations were addressed.

During the conference, the experiences of the participating tax administrations were presented and the exchange of knowledge on topics related, among others, to institutional transformation, artificial intelligence and the use of new technologies, risk management, tax compliance and the development of human talent was promoted.

The closing session included remarks by representatives of the State Tax Administration Agency (AEAT) and the Institute of Fiscal Studies (IEF) of Spain, as well as Mr. Márcio F. Verdi, Executive secretary of CIAT, and Mr. Pedro Porfirio Urrutia Sangiovanni, President of the Executive Council of CIAT and Director General of Internal Revenue of the Dominican Republic (DGII).

As part of the closing, Mr. Camilo A. Valdés Mora, general director of Revenue of Panama, extended the invitation to the 61st.The General Assembly of CIAT, which will be held in the Republic of Panama. The day concluded with the official closing of the 2nd CIAT Meeting of Tax Administrators.
