As part of the Cooperation Program currently maintained by the CIAT Executive Secretariat with the Spanish Cooperation (AECID), an activity was conducted to address issues related to innovation and international collaboration to combat tax evasion and illicit financial flows. This activity was moderated by CIAT and included the participation of experts from Spain’s AEAT (Mr. Rafael Padilla Ruiz, Technology Support Unit), Peru’s SUNAT (Mr. José Orellana Villalobos, Information and Analysis Division), and the World Bank (Ms. Yara Esquivel, Financial Sector). They addressed the use of artificial intelligence and advanced analytics to detect tax fraud and horizontal cooperation between authorities to tackle financial crime.
