CIAT and AECID Strengthen Cooperation to Promote Tax Justice in the Region
On October 9, 2026, representatives of the Inter-American Center of Tax Administrations (CIAT) and the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) held a working meeting at the Spanish Cooperation offices in Panama to mark the launch of a new cooperation initiative aimed at strengthening tax justice.

During the meeting, the main technical and administrative aspects of the project were discussed, along with the coordination, monitoring, and evaluation mechanisms that will guide its implementation.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of fostering synergies with other cooperation initiatives jointly developed by both institutions, building on their accumulated experience and expertise to strengthen tax administrations across Latin America and the Caribbean.
This new project reaffirms CIAT’s and Spanish Cooperation’s commitment to strengthening tax administrations institutionally and promoting more effective, equitable, and transparent tax systems.
