Third meeting held by the Tax Administrations

September 25, 2008 – The Inter-American Center of Tax Administrations (CIAT, as per its Spanish acronym), with the cooperation of France’s DGFIP, hosted the third meeting of the Tax Administrations’ Human Resources Working Group, which took place at CIAT’s Executive Secretariat in Panama, from September 9 to 12 of this current year.
The main purpose of this meeting was to identify and analyze practices on the most relevant aspects of the recruitment, selection, training and promotion processes of human resources in tax administrations, so as to be published within the framework of a manual, which will be at the Tax Administrations’ disposal. This manual is aimed at establishing a set of fundamental references, illustrated with actual experiences, in the specific topics studies.The meeting began with an introductory message given by the Executive Secretary, Dr. Claudino Pita, who made emphasis on the importance of the working group’s goal, in order to establish helping references available to the tax administrations of CIAT member countries, to improve and modernize human resources’ management in Tax Administrations.

Representatives from Barbados, Brazil, Chile, France, Guatemala, Honduras, Italy and Peru took part in the event, as well as CIAT’s Director of Tax Studies, Dr. María Raquel Ayala, and the head of the French Mission before CIAT, Mr. Ángel González.

In addition, it is worth pointing out that the meeting’s agenda included the analysis of a base document prepared by the Executive Secretariat, the contributions made by each one of the participants, as well as the task schedule to be developed at the fourth and last group’s meeting, to be held in January 2009 in order to finish the manual.
