Successful 42nd CIAT General Assembly

May 8, 2008 – In the city of Antigua, Guatemala, from April 21 to 24, 2008, CIAT held its 42nd General Assembly on “Strategies to promote voluntary compliance”, with the participation of 34 delegations of tax administrations from member countries and other countries from Africa, Asia, Europe and Oceania, as well as representatives from several international organizations.

The General Assembly was opened by Constitutional Vice-president of the Republic of Guatemala Mr. Rafael Espada, accompanied by Minister of Public Finance Mr. Juan Alberto Fuentes.

It is worth noting the organizational and technical excellence of this General Assembly, and, in particular, the extremely high quality of the work done by SAT officials, led by Superintendent Carolina Roca.

At the administrative meeting, member country representatives unanimously approved the application submitted by the Republic of India to join CIAT as an associate member.

Also approved at that meeting was the composition of the new CIAT Executive Council for the period 2008/2009, which will be chaired by the Guatemalan Tax Administration Superintendent, accompanied by eight Councilors representing the following member countries:

Dominican Republic
