With deep regret, we have learned the decease of Mr. Sheldon S. Cohen, former Commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service of the United States of America during the years of the Government of President Lyndon B. Johnson.

Sheldon Cohen, a legal expert specialized in taxation, was a fundamental part of the foundation and constitution of this Inter-American Center of Tax Administrations in 1967 and was elected as the first president of the CIAT Executive Council.

We communicate this sad news to the entire tax community of our member countries, expressing our deepest condolences to the family of Commissioner Cohen and to the colleagues of the IRS of the United States of America.
