On October 29, 2026, the Executive Secretariat of the Inter-American Center of Tax Administrations (CIAT) had the honor of welcoming H.E. Giuditta Giorgio, Italian Ambassador to Panama, accompanied by Brigadier General Antonio D’Agostino, Permanent Representative of the Italian Mission to the CIAT.

The distinguished delegation was welcomed by CIAT Executive Secretary Mr. Márcio F. Verdi, along with the institution’s leadership and management team.

During the meeting, the directors of the departments within the Executive Secretariat presented CIAT’s main areas of work in fields such as international cooperation and taxation, human resources management in tax administrations, technical assistance, technological innovation, and tax studies, as well as the activities and services the institution makes available to its member countries.

For his part, General Antonio D’Agostino presented the work of the Italian Guardia di Finanza in the area of international cooperation, as well as its capabilities and initiatives related to training and collaboration with CIAT.

The visit provided an opportunity to strengthen ties between Italy and CIAT, as well as to exchange perspectives on the work both parties are promoting in the area of international tax cooperation.
