August 14, 2008 – Upon the panel of judges’ assessment of the merits of the proposals submitted, it was decided to award the 3rd CIAT – AEAT – IEF Research Fellowship to Ms. Flora María Castillo Contreras, Local Revenue Administrator of the Mexican Tax Administration Service (SAT, as per its Spanish acronym).

The fellowship winner satisfactorily submitted a complete preliminary research draft under the topic “Coactive collection in tax administration. Power, opportunity and efficiency”.

For this third edition of the Research Fellowship, CIAT’s Executive Secretary received nine applications sent by Tax Administration officials from four CIAT- member countries, of which only five actually met the requirements set forth in the contest conditions.

Once more, this contest stimulates and reinforces the development of attitudes towards research in politics or tax administration in the Ibero-American scope, thus demanding knowledge, commitment and participation from Tax Administration officials in CIAT-member countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.
