Maria Cristina Mac Dowell

Lead Specialist in the Tax Management Division, where she has led several programs and technical assistance in tax management in Brazil. She has extensive experience in issues related to tax policy and management, tax decentralization, subnational finances, and quality of public expenditure, with several publications. She is a graduate researcher at the Institute of Applied Economic Research (IPEA) of the Brazilian Government and has served as the Director General of the School of Business Administration (ESAF) of the Brazilian Ministry of Economy. She has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in economics and served as a consultant to the World Bank, the International Labor Organization (ILO) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). She holds a master’s degree in Economics from the Federal University of Pernambuco and a PhD in Economics from the University of Brasilia.
