On May 6, 2025, the 59th CIAT General Assembly was inaugurated in Santiago, Chile, with the central theme: “The role of the Tax Administration in the fight against tax evasion and tax crimes” under the sponsorship of the Internal Revenue Service of Chile and the participation of delegations from CIAT member countries, international organizations, and other invited countries, in face-to-face mode.

Mr. Javier Etcheverry, Director of the Chilean Internal Revenue Service, who assumed the presidency of the CIAT Executive Council for the 2025-2026 period, and Mr. Márcio F. Verdi, CIAT Executive Secretary, presided over the Inauguration Ceremony.
