CIAT will present the “Digital Identity Guide for Tax Administrations” at its 60th General Assembly
During its 60th General Assembly, which will take place from May 12 to 14, 2026, in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, the Inter-American Center of Tax Administrations (CIAT) will present the “Digital Identity Guide for Tax Administrations” on May 13. This new publication is intended to support tax administrations in designing, implementing, and strengthening digital identity mechanisms within their services and processes.
The publication discusses digital identity as a strategic institutional capability that can be used to modernize relationships with taxpayers, facilitate access to digital services, enhance security, and strengthen interoperability with other government systems.
This publication was created in collaboration with the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) to provide a practical and accessible resource for tax authorities in Latin America and the Caribbean, in particular. The guide provides an overview of the evolution of digital identification and analyses the current situation in the region based on a survey of various tax authorities.
With this publication, CIAT reaffirms its commitment to the digital transformation of tax administrations and to generating technical knowledge to support decision-making, promote best practices, and strengthen the institutional capacities of its member countries.
The publication will soon be available in Spanish and English on the CIAT website, as a practical resource for strengthening digital identity within the region’s tax administrations.
