In response to an invitation from the Commonwealth Association of Tax Administrators – CATA, the CIAT Technical Assistance Director, Mr. Raúl Zambrano, attended its XXXIII Technical Conference. Two topics were the subject of discussion: the use of information technologies in the sphere of the Tax Administration and the “self-assessment” strategy as generalized tax administration mechanism. In addition to the CATA member countries, other participating organizations besides CIAT were OECD, ITC, the Adam Smith Institute and Crown Agents.

The CATA Executive Director, Mr. Tutu Bakwena, thanked CIAT for its participation and expressed his commitment of collaboration between his organization and CIAT.

At the Conference, the CIAT Technical Assistance Director made a presentation entitled: “Direct Support Amongst Tax Administrations Through CIAT´s Technical Assistance Program: A practical approach¨
