The CIAT Executive Secretariat strengthens links with Suriname within the framework of the CIAT-GIZ Cooperation

The first of a series of institutional visits whose purpose is to strengthen the relationships between the CIAT Executive Secretariat and the Tax Administrations of the member countries of the Caribbean was made to Surinam last March 16-18, within the framework of the Cooperation Program between the Germany Cooperation Agency GIZ and CIAT.

During said visit, Messrs. Francisco Beiner, Director of Planning and Institutional Development and Raúl Zambrano, Director of Technical Assistance and ICT met with Mr. Cornelis Van Dijk, Director of Taxes of Surinam and Mrs. Priscilla Lachman, Head of International Fiscal Affairs of the Directorate of Taxes of Surinam. On this occasion, the main aspects of the work being carried out by CIAT with the GIZ, as well as the opportunities and services available for a CIAT member country were presented. Some of the issues covered dealt with the communication channels, availability of online courses, the Supply and Demand System (SDS) and the possibility of exchanging information and requesting the support of the Executive Secretariat or Tax Administrations of other member countries.

A visit was also made to the Customs Administration where the participants evidenced the important achievements of the aforementioned organization in terms of infrastructure.
