The CIAT-SECO Program concluded its first year of implementation, contributing to the strengthening of tax administrations in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC)

In recent years, through news, institutional events from the Inter-American Center of tax administrations (CIAT) and forums of various organizations, the international tax community, especially the tax administrations of America, have witnessed in recent years the development of relations between CIAT and the Swiss Government’s State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO). Both organizations have known how to align their interests and thus identify points of common interest, leading to the design of a robust program of cooperation based entirely on the “strategic priorities” of tax administrations from a selection of LAC countries.

The main objective of the CIAT-SECO Program consists of strengthening with resources from the Government of Switzerland and through CIAT, the tax policy and administration of LAC countries, with the ultimate goal of improving efficiency and effectiveness and achieve an increase in their collection levels.
