CIAT visits Colombia for collaboration initiatives.

As part of his commitment to consolidate international cooperation in tax matters, CIAT Executive Secretary Márcio F. Verdi, accompanied by Gonzalo Arias, Director of International Cooperation and Taxation, and Maureen Pérez, Training Manager, paid an official visit to three leading Colombian institutions: the National Tax and Customs Directorate (DIAN), the Agency of the Inspector General of Taxes, Revenues and Parafiscal Contributions (ITRC) and the Externado University of Colombia.
The main objective of these visits was to promote institutional rapprochement, strengthen collaboration ties and discuss CIAT’s work in the region. During the meetings, the delegation explored opportunities to expand technical, academic and operational cooperation between the entities, for the benefit of strengthening the tax administrations and the training of specialized human talent.
The CIAT delegation held meetings with Luis Eduardo Llinás Chica, director of the DIAN, Eva Carolina Madrid Torres, director of the ITRC, and Hernando Parra Nieto, rector of the Universidad Externado de Colombia, which addressed key issues such as international taxation, ethics in tax administration, digital transformation, training of officials, and the exchange of best practices in tax management.
These initiatives reflect CIAT’s interest in continuing to build bridges of collaboration with its member countries, promoting spaces for dialogue and joint learning that contribute to the development of more efficient, transparent and equitable tax systems.
