Sixth Meeting of the OECD Global VAT Forum

The Inter-American Center of Tax Administrations (CIAT) participated in the Sixth Edition of the Global Forum on Value Added Tax (VAT), organized by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), held from January 26 to 28, 2026, in Paris, France.

CIAT was represented by Raúl Zambrano, Director of Technical Assistance and Innovation, who contributed to the global dialogue on the modernization of VAT in response to the challenges posed by the digital economy, including e-commerce, crypto-assets, electronic invoicing, artificial intelligence, and the fight against tax fraud.

The Forum brought together more than 300 representatives from 104 jurisdictions, as well as international organizations and the private sector, with the aim of strengthening the exchange of experiences and best practices in taxation.

This edition also commemorated the tenth anniversary of the adoption of the OECD International VAT/GST Guidelines, which were reaffirmed as the international reference framework for the application of VAT to digital and cross-border trade.

CIAT’s participation reaffirms its commitment to international cooperation and to strengthening the technical capacities of the tax administrations of its member countries in the face of the challenges of digital transformation.
