May 8, 2008 – In the city of Antigua, Guatemala, from April 21 to 24, 2008, CIAT held its 42nd General Assembly on “Strategies to promote voluntary compliance”, with the participation of 34 delegations of tax administrations from member countries and other countries from Africa, Asia, Europe and Oceania, as well as representatives from several international organizations. |

Spain – Tax Agency expects to receive 18,525,000 tax returns in Income Tax Campaign |

April 29, 2008 – The Tax Agency expects to receive 18,525,000 Personal Income Tax returns during the Income Tax Campaign, said President of the Tax Administration Agency (AEAT) Carlos Ocaña and Director General Luis Pedroche. This accounts for a 5% increase compared to last year and more than 870,000 new persons filing a Personal Income Tax return. It is the largest increase in the number of Personal Income Tax return filers in the last few years. |

Mexico - SAT offers tool to help taxpayers with their annual tax returns |

April 22, 2008 – With the purpose of helping taxpayers file their 2007 tax returns (DA 2007), the Tax Administration Service (SAT) has posted more than 4 thousand people at different points like local taxpayer service administrations, free Internet cafes, mobile modules, trucks, in addition to telephone help with a toll-free number called INFOSAT, to which taxpayers may call from anywhere in the country. |
